112: Challenging All-or-Nothing Thinking
In this episode, Kara Lydon of the Foodie Dietitian Blog talk about her evolution of healing her relationship with food. We also then discuss how all-or-nothing thinking can get in the way of so much joy and connection with food and our bodies and explore this common cognitive distortion we see in our practice as dietitians with clients.
Kara shares how her work and her blog is a resource for folks seeking a balanced and nuanced approach to health-promoting eating. She's worked hard to embrace nuance and gray with food and eating, and promotes that balance on her blog and in her work. She talks about black and white thinking robbed her of so many years of her childhood and how embracing the gray has led to peace and wellbeing she didn't experience during her struggles with food.
